TELL ALL 20'S A huge thanks to sandrina for sharing her experience and hopefully inspiring others like she's done for me! So what are you studying exactly? Im studying bachelor of social science, basically like social work. Studying bachelor of social science, what will that enable you to do in the future? What is the ultimate goal for your career? I could get into social Work industries. So I can work with kids, families, people who are homeless, basically anyone who is troubled in some way, who needs help. That's fantastic! So what made you choose to do bachelor of social science? I love helping people, its what I’m good at. Im always there for those who are in need and it always makes my day when I can help someone who needs it! What did you want to be growing up? Well… According to my mother, I wanted to be a garbage man! A little weird I know! As I got older though I wanted to be a veterinarian, until I realised I may have to put some animals down. Then I wanted to be a flight attendant, until I realised I was too short! I was devastated. Finally I realised helping people was what I was good at so I thought… "why not get payed for it?" So how was school for you? Was it easy or do you struggle with certain things? What was your favourite subject? School was hard for me. I was bullied a fair bit, almost everyday from an early as I can remember. I was often called many foul names and even had a book thrown across my head for ignoring them. Maths was always my worst subject, so luckily I won’t be in a profession that needs a lot of math! English was always my best subject, and my favourite, because I was good at it of course! Now I know you struggled a fair bit with bullying, how do you feel the those experiences have affected you now? Being bullied was tough for me and I have to admit finishing school was a great day for me! I have learnt a lot of the years and I think being bullied has given me a great insight into how to help people. Having that sort of experience, going through what I went through will be able to help me in helping some people who may be going through what I have. No one deserves to be treated with disrespect, so I will be able to put my own experiences into practice when helping those less fortunate. I feel everyone deserves the best. How did you ultimately deal with that? Did you just get over it or was it more complicated than that? I kind of just pushed through it everyday. Obviously there were days where I didn’t want to go to school, but I had to. So ultimately I just stuck up with it and had a cry when I got home. It hurt me that most of the teachers saw what was happening and didn’t do anything about it, I mostly had to deal with it all on my own. What's was it that got you through that? Because I know that a lot of young kids struggle with bullying and sometimes can't handle it... Was there ever moments like that for you? As I said above, some days it was hard and I wanted to skip school. Which i did occasionally. I did have a couple of close friends that were there for me and occasionally lied to teachers for me so I could get out of class and away from the bullies, which was always a relief. If you could tell yourself back then what you know now, what would you say? Just be yourself, don’t try to please those around you because if they liked you for you they would stick around, and if not then they are most definitely not worth your time. Don’t spend your time worrying about what others think of you and just move forward, your life will be so much better! Despite what you've been through is definitely sounds like you've come out on the better side and so talking about positives, what's been a great and positive moment for you? Something that you will never forget! I am the first person in my family to complete high school and move onto university. Right now that is my greatest achievement. It makes sense much prouder of myself that I got through some of the worst years of my life and come out on top. Do you have any hobbies outside of Uni? What do you do in your free time? M Let me guess you collect stamps? I don’t collect stamps! I LOVE reading and I do, collect books! I just love the smell of newly bought books.i also used to play netball and wouldn’t mind getting back onto that at some point. That's really interesting, why reading and netball? I have always loved reading, I enjoy just getting lost in a good story. It’s a perfect get away if I’ve had a rough day. And as for netball, I just enjoy it, I like to think I’m pretty good at it too, a lot better than soccer or any of those other ‘manly’s ports. Knowing that you enjoy a good read, what is your favourite book and why? I have so many to choose from! If I had to choose I would have to say ‘The Ancient Future Trilogy’ by Tracy Harding. It’s such a fantastic book, well written and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it! I hear you're a bit of a supernatural fan, what is it about two ridiculously good looking guys hunting demons that makes everyone swoon! Who doesn’t know that?! They are just too good looking. But I think the story line of it is brilliant, I love the whole demon hunting thing, while also developing the characters story. You grow to love them! Reminds me of charmed (which I also loved). Have you ever met any of the cast? Who would you like to meet? Of course other than Sam and dean! Unfortunately I haven’t. Its on my bucket list though. Dean all the way! There is a supernatural convention in Sydney that I think they go to sometimes so I gotta keep an eye out for that! I heard you love to travel, where in the world would you go if you could? I would love to travel to Ireland! I don’t know why but I have ways been fascinated with Irish culture. It seems like such a beautiful place to visit. Wow that's awesome I've always wanted to go to Ireland to! Ok lastly sandrina, do you have anything you'd like to say to those reading this who may relate to you?
