WHY YOU NO SHIMMY JIMMY? Thank you so much Jessica for taking the time to answer some questions, I really appreciate it. I'm very excited so lets get started! So firstly Jessica most people will be familiar with you from the movie "Blended" as the perky and charismatic ginger! What was it like to play such a fun character? Ginger was incredibly fun to play. Blended was my first big movie and playing such a fun, silly character was a dream come true. What was it like to work along side Adam sandler, Drew Barrymore, Bella Thorne and Kevin nealon? Everyone on set was extremely nice and easy to work with. Kevin was an amazing scene partner and made me feel very comfortable. They let us improvise quite a bit and I loved doing bits with a few of my comedic idols. I read that you were a bit of a sandler fan, it must have been exciting to work with one of the biggest comedic actors in hollywood? Sandler films and SNL were a huge part of my childhood. I watched Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison hundreds of times. I was incredibly starstruck when we first met but that quickly faded. He's just the nicest guy. The best. How did you react when you found out that you had gotten the part? I was in shock. I couldn't believe it. I called my parents after talking with my reps and they couldn't believe it either. Now before you stared in blended you're background was mostly comedy and improv, as a graduate from north western university I believe. What sparked your interest in comedy and improv? I've always been a performer. I started doing impressions of tv and movie characters when I was 5 years old. I was in plays and competed in Speech and Debate in school and after Northwestern I moved to LA and took some improv classes at UCB and Groundlings. That's how it all started. Have you always wanted to do comedy and acting? Deep down I always wanted to pursue a career in comedy. I originally moved out to LA wanting to focus on doing voice over for animation. But sometimes those jobs are harder to land than on-camera work. Now some people may not know this but you voiced the character "Dahlia" on bobs burgers, is the process different only doing a voice compared to on screen acting? I LOVE Bob's Burgers. The show is incredible and the cast and scripts are hilarious. The recording session is quick and fun and, because the other actors are in the studio with you, they let you play around and improvise a bit. If I could do that for the rest of my life I'd be incredibly happy. Jessica the current project you're working on is "Wrecked" and you play Florence, how has it been so far, are you enjoying it? Wrecked was a wonderful experience. The cast is super tight because we shoot on location in Puerto Rico so we all bonded. It's a rare show in such a crowded marketplace because it combines action and comedy. It's the Indiana Jones of basic cable. ;) Can't wait for season 2!! Your main pathway is comedy, but if you weren't doing comedy what do you think you'd be doing? If I wasn't doing comedy I'd probably be a speech pathologist. Or a ski instructor. Other than wrecked, do you have anything else in the works that you can tell us about? I'm taking it pretty easy during my hiatus. It's been a slow, hot summer in LA. I'm shooting a little role in Sandler's next film in a couple weeks and also concentrating on writing. If you could tell yourself something 10 years ago, what would it be, would you have any advice for young Jessica? I'd say "Relax. You're fine. Just keep working hard and keep being nice to everyone." Is there anything you would change about your life right now? Not that I can think of. Where would we be without family and friends to support us right... Who's been the biggest support for you? My family has been incredibly supportive. I love them dearly. Also my agent Ayala Cohen is a dream and I trust her opinion more than I trust my own! What is something you like to live your life by? Same as my advice to myself: Work hard. Be nice. Lastly, to anyone who is thinking about acting as a career do you have any wise words of wisdom for them? Don't burn any bridges. Do your best with any opportunity given to you. Well Jessica I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share a little about yourself, I can't wait to see what's next for you! Have a nice day!
